Hello #LRPBoudieBeauties!  I have been awful about staying on top of blogs this year as we have been busier than ever and have been growing and expanding.  This is one that I have been sitting on for quite some time and simply could not wait longer to share.  This beautiful woman inspires me beyond words.

” I grew up the only girl of 4. My childhood consisted of hunting, fishing and playing on the soccer field. I wore my older brother’s hand me downs & dressed mostly like a boy until about the age of 14. I never had many girlfriends and my mom wasn’t much of a girly girl either. I was an extremely awkward teenager, super uncomfortable with my changing body and trying to figure out who I am. Then, at 16, my mom, who should have been the most influential woman in my life left. Around that same time, I met my now husband. All of that awkwardness, not knowing how to dress myself, or how to appreciate my body as it was given to me lasted until I was 21.

At 21 I gave birth to my first child. It’s funny how when you get pregnant everyone wants to tell you how awful you will look after. “It’s going to take forever to lose the weight,” “your nose is going to get bigger,” “your entire body shape will change, nothing is going to fit the same.” I was terrified. I already didn’t know how to dress me as I am, it’s only going to get worse. Then as babies #2 & #3 came, the comments only got worse and scarier.

Despite the world trying to convince me I should, or would hate my body after children, I felt the exact opposite. All of my confidence and love for myself came from realizing everything our bodies can endure. From the very second we become pregnant we become an amazing superhero of a woman.Delivering a baby (in any way) is a superpower in itself. We foster life inside our bodies and forgive any changes our body makes as a side effect. We give life to tiny humans who need us more than anything…that in itself is the most empowering journey we, as woman can celebrate.
My shoot with Lindsay was a celebration of me. A celebration of the amazing superwoman I have become. It allowed me to fully see the long transformation of myself from awkward teenager, to the woman my husband see’s when he looks at me. It’s not easy to continue to love all myself everyday, and on those harder days, I will have these photos and the feelings that came with them to remind me I am beautiful, I am worthy of loving myself, I am powerful and I am teaching my daughter the same.
