I Am Serious About My Intentions – Troy | Albany | Saratoga Springs | New York, Boudoir

by | Jan 29, 2018 | Uncategorized

A big theme for me this year has been about my intentions.  So much of my life has been spent just trusting my gut in the moment and taking a leap of faith, but the real power I have discovered came to me when I spent the time to think about what I actually wanted for my life, for the business, for my team and for my family.

One of the biggest goals I have had was the revision of our photography studio in downtown Troy, New York. We wanted to up the ante a bit.  The women that come to us are powerful, sexy, strong, fashionable, glamorous, and all very very real women (mom’s, doctors, lawyers, friends, teachers, nurses, etc.)  We needed our space to step it up even more to meet the level of our clients and to give our past clients a reason to come back again.

I have been tossing the idea around for sometime and today is the official announcement of #LRPCouples.

Couples Boudoir is a new way to capture the love between you and your partner in an intimate light and in the most classy of ways. It is about showing you that your love is the same kind of love you see in the movies.  With a cinematic approach to our styling and light, we are elevating couples photography in the Capital Region.

For now this offering is only available to return clients, but we hope to expand it further as the year progresses.

Now let us talk a little bit about this session.  I could not be more in love with Drew and Amy.  They are a powerhouse team and the love that this real married couple has for each other just radiates.

Amy is one of the most centered women I have met, so we asked her to share a little bit with you today and I hope you do take the time to read it all the way through because she really touches on alot of important topics <3

“My husband and I have a theme for 2018: growth. We want to grow in our marriage, grow in our careers, possibly grow our family. We’re at a transitional period in our lives. I wanted to do this shoot with Lindsay for that very reason. I know our lives are going to change because we are actively seeking to expand our reality. We are stepping into a new phase of life. A more grown, confident and sexy one. Capturing these images solidified that intention to ourselves and the universe. We’ve put it on film. Cemented the moment forever. Lindsay’s work is empowering. Drew and I are still walking around like Jay and Bey after that shoot. It just shifted something inside of us. It feels great.

I’m getting serious this year. Serious about my intentions. Serious about my well-being. Serious about loving myself. I was inspired by a preacher at a church I frequent when I’m in New York – Hillsong. You may have heard of it because of its progressive lead preacher-to-the-Stars, Carl Lentz. (Justin Bieber has been known to attend church conferences and services.) I don’t tell you this to brag, or to get all spiritual with you right out of the gate. No, I tell you because I love details and I think they matter. It was a sunny, yet blisteringly cold day in Manhattan and a pastor at the church, Josh Kines, a charming, well dressed young, married, Aussie fella, (details) gave an engaging sermon about getting serious. You know, rising up, right now. Not wasting any more time saying you’re going to make a change, but finally, actually doing it. It really got me thinking. I know how precious life is, having lost both my sister and father at a young age. I understand what a gift is is to be able to use our limbs, to breath fresh air, to live this life. It’s so easy to take it all for granted. In exploring the idea of motherhood, I’ve found an entirely new appreciation. It’s time to get serious about loving this body that I’m in. Embrace every inch, every scar, every freckle, every flaw.

Loving your body. What a ginormous topic. But why? Why is loving this intricate, elaborate, fascinating vessel that takes us on a wild ride of experiences from birth to death, that feels physical sensations, that grows and regenerates, that functions when we don’t even ask it to – Why is loving this so hard to do? I’ve had my own love/hate relationship with my body. From navigating puberty as a gymnast, to a brief battle with an eating disorder, (basically an unspoken competition with my bestie that consisted of us eating nothing but baked lays and bottled water), to holding myself to crazy standards of physical beauty. I’m a bit of a control freak and I haven’t always been kind to my body. I’ve learned through yoga, meditation and – yes, going to church – that I deserve to feel joy in this body. That every day is a blessing and if I’m here on Earth to live it, in a body that cooperates with me, most of the time, I should count my lucky stars. We have unlimited potential to create within us. I find that exhilarating.

So this year I’m getting serious. I’ve done plenty of research and now I’m sticking to what works – for me. That takes truly knowing yourself and instead of rejecting your individuality, working with the tools you’re given. Our bodies are screaming at us: “Let me help you!” We just need to listen. Now I am. I’ve finally figured out that all or nothing doesn’t work for me. What is more realistic are the simple pillars of faith. Not just my faith. They show up across the board in Christianity, Islam, Buddhism. You want to have a good happy life? Focus on love and self-control. Pretty basic, huh?

Oh, and pastor Josh also wanted us to know that getting serious doesn’t mean taking ourselves too seriously. He actually encouraged us to make more time for things (and people) we love. It’s about knowing what you need to do so you feel amazing and nourished, ready to squeeze the greatest amount of joy out of this life. It’s about tapping into what you need to unleash your greatest potential. For me it’s resting. Saying no to anything that doesn’t serve me. Being picky about the situations I put myself in. Getting intentional about how I spend my time. I want to enjoy it every single day. I know that is an attainable goal for us all when we start to love, respect and cherish the bodies our souls rest in. One dies. One lives forever. But in this lifetime, they are bound together. Love your body, it’s been loving you your whole life.”  ~Amy
