I did this for me.

I had admired Lindsay’s work for a while and when the Black Friday sale came around I jumped at the offer. After I signed up I was super excited. The date I booked was in March, which is my birthday month, and I’m all about celebrating for an entire month. But there’s a lot of time between Black Friday and March and you better believe I had second thoughts. I knew I wanted to do the shoot, and I’m a pretty confident person, but I was more worried about what others would think. I didn’t tell many people, in fact I only told my two closest friends at first. They were super supportive and excited for me and knew I would be glad I did it in the end; and they were right… I can not wait to hang my wall art and flip through my album. These pictures will serve as a reminder that I can do anything. The woman in these pictures is a work in progress. She is learning more about herself and the world everyday. She is strong, generous, confident and beautiful. She doesn’t know what’s next but she knows she will make the best of whatever comes her way. She wants a lot out of life and is willing to work her ass off to get it… actually I’d like to keep my ass, so I’ll work off something else.

Below I’ve written a few reminders for myself and anyone else who may be struggling. Although our problems may not be the same, we are all in this together.

You are generous and kind. You are important and needed. Your smile is contagious so when you find what truly makes you happy keep doing it.

Don’t question who you are because of what others may say or think. Do what you believe is right. Your opinion matters. Not everyone will agree or understand, but that’s ok.

Don’t apologize for your feelings or feel the need to explain yourself at every turn. Those who value what you have to say will listen.

It’s ok to ask for help or admit when you’re wrong. You will grow stronger and learn more when you do.

Be you. Be honest. Be true. Love hard and love often. Communicate both the good and the bad. Stand up for what’s important to you.

Don’t give up on the things you want or the people you love the most.

Stay strong even when you want to quit. Recognize when you may need to take a step back but don’t stray too far from your goal.

Keep working on becoming your best self. Do something for yourself everyday. Nourish your body and relax your mind.

You will never regret time or effort invested in yourself. You deserve the best things that life has to offer. You have the power to change what you don’t like about yourself and you also have the power to enhance and embrace what you love about yourself.

Keep focusing on the good and eventually everything else will fade to the back.

You are simply amazing. Eventually you will find what you’re looking for, but in the mean time, keep doing you. Create the path that leads to your destiny and follow it to the end. There’s no looking back now. You’ve got this.
